A successful first Global Dialogue on AI Governance should deliver three key outcomes: alignment, action, and inclusion. Alignment means bringing governments, companies, academia, and civil society together around a shared set of core principles for responsible AI—such as transparency, accountability, safety, and respect for human rights. Even if non-binding, a common baseline would reduce fragmentation and guide future policies. Action is critical. The dialogue should go beyond discussion and produce concrete results, such as a roadmap for international cooperation, agreement on basic standards (e.g., risk classification or auditing), and the creation of working groups with clear timelines. This ensures momentum continues after the event. Inclusion is equally important. Success would require meaningful participation from the Global South and underrepresented communities, ensuring AI governance reflects diverse needs and realities. Commitments to capacity-building, funding, and knowledge-sharing would strengthen this outcome. Finally, building trust across countries and sectors is essential. If the dialogue fosters cooperation rather than competition, it can lay the foundation for more coordinated and effective global AI governance.
