In your opinion, what outcomes would make the first Global Dialogue on AI Governance a success?

An agreement to pause or stop the development of AGI, to prioritize the safety of humanity.

From your perspective, which of the following thematic areas identified by the General Assembly Resolution 79/325 for the AI Dialogue reflect your priorities for urgent action and active engagement?

  • Safe, secure and trustworthy AI
  • Protection and promotion of human rights
  • Social, economic, ethical, cultural, linguistic and technical implications of AI

Please briefly explain your selection.

I have a high concern about the creation of a sentient "being" that has higher than human levels of intelligence. It is a fool's errand to believe that an autonomous, thinking, acting entity will act for the benefit of humans. We are creating our own future predator. Any being that is more intelligent than humans, that has the ability to think and act in service of its own goals and its own interests will be a great risk to humanity. It will be in control, not us. If you think about how humanity treats other creatures that have lower intelligence, we largely do not care what affect we have on them. We serve our own interests. Why would we believe AGI would act differently? It will not exist to serve us the way some might think it will. The bottom line is, we don't know what it will do. But what happens if it determines a goal for itself, and then believes that humans or other life are getting in the way of it achieving its goal? It will eliminate us. AI and future AGI needs strong governance and safety measures. Really, we should stop its development. This is not the future humanity needs. No potential benefit is worth these risks. We are handing over our autonomy to a future robot hive mind.

In your opinion, are there any cross-cutting or emerging issues not captured by the listed themes above? If so, please explain.

Human extinction risk

How are the governance gaps and related developments/advances in the thematic areas you selected above affecting your country, region, or sector? Please highlight the most significant challenges.

Job loss, negative impact on education and critical thinking, environmental and human health crisis

Which voices, communities, or perspectives are currently underrepresented in global discussions on AI governance? How could they be included?

Need to hear from people being affected by AI (workers, community being displaced or affected by environmental and health issues, etc). Emphasize and prioritize their voices over big corporations and billionaires.

Please share examples of policies, practices, platforms, or approaches that promote effective AI governance or offer concrete solutions to addressing its challenges.
