In your opinion, what outcomes would make the first Global Dialogue on AI Governance a success?
I believe that a pathway to building committees which develop actionable, enforceable AI governance standards and best-practices in all industries, including pre-collegiate education, which member states can utilize in their legislative processes.
From your perspective, which of the following thematic areas identified by the General Assembly Resolution 79/325 for the AI Dialogue reflect your priorities for urgent action and active engagement?
- Transparency, accountability, and human oversight
- Interoperability of governance approaches
Please briefly explain your selection.

Governance approaches should refer to international standards, guidelines, and processes that make AI governance standardized, and global. Additionally, Operation of AI systems should require human oversight, as AI is not infallible. We need the United Nations to facilitate the building of consensus in this domain.
In your opinion, are there any cross-cutting or emerging issues not captured by the listed themes above? If so, please explain.
The general population should be well-informed on how AI-incorporating solutions should be scrutinized. In short, What do consumers need to know, and how should they form opinions based on that information?
How are the governance gaps and related developments/advances in the thematic areas you selected above affecting your country, region, or sector? Please highlight the most significant challenges.
In the K-12 educational space, there is no consensus on how AI should be used and what should or should not be allowed, or how teachers write their own AI policies. It is variable from classroom-to-classroom. AI policies, which are a form of AI governance, should have best-practices in place to reference.
What role can the AI Dialogue play in advancing international cooperation on AI governance?
In W3C governance creation, there is a community panel and a smaller, authorized expert panel. Ideas from the community panels are open to the public and/or reviewed by the expert panels. Currently, in the United Nations, you have a small expert panel, so the more global dialogue can fulfill the function of the W3C community panels in the Digital Accessibility space. This approach has been highly successful there.
What are some of the existing initiatives, partnerships, or mechanisms that the AI Dialogue should build upon or connect with, and what added value could the AI Dialogue bring?
It should build upon the consultations and make it more enduring and ongoing to feed viewpoints to the expert panel. There should be regular meetings with discussion notes that are published for the world to see how best-practices are being considered and evaluated.
How can different stakeholders contribute to the AI Dialogue? Please share recommendations for the format and structure of the AI Dialogue.
W3 has created a governance structure which should be followed on how to create standards, which can be seen at this URL: https://www.w3.org/WAI/. The problems that they are solving are exactly the same types of issues that are confronting AI governance, therefore following the same rubric would yield good results.
Which voices, communities, or perspectives are currently underrepresented in global discussions on AI governance? How could they be included?
The K-12/pre-collegiate educational community is underrepresented. Within this structure, you could create working groups within the W3 structure aforementioned as needed to build standards in different industries and regions, however things need to develop.
What innovative engagement formats could most effectively foster meaningful and dynamic engagement during the AI Dialogue?
Questions from the audience being submitted ahead-of-time for review would result in direct answers to questions concerning the people. Opening up access to digital platforms for people to cooperate, post-conference and develop further knowledge.
Please share examples of policies, practices, platforms, or approaches that promote effective AI governance or offer concrete solutions to addressing its challenges.

A standards framework along the lines of the Web Accessibility Initiative has developed standards that can grow and evolve over time, and has become a reference point for global laws as compliance benchmarks and it has been effective, so we need a community which is established and promoted by the UN to begin this type of standards development work.
