In your opinion, what outcomes would make the first Global Dialogue on AI Governance a success?

A collective recognition of the extreme importance of this issue and its risks for humanity, as well as the urgency with which it needs to be addressed as we have only a very short time window to get this right. Concrete agreements to collectively slow the development in order to ensure the safety for humanity.

From your perspective, which of the following thematic areas identified by the General Assembly Resolution 79/325 for the AI Dialogue reflect your priorities for urgent action and active engagement?

  • Safe, secure and trustworthy AI
  • Transparency, accountability, and human oversight
  • Social, economic, ethical, cultural, linguistic and technical implications of AI

Please briefly explain your selection.

Safety is the primary issue, which needs to be tackled first. This can only be done by transparency, accountability and human oversight. Once this is ensured we need to tackle the social and economic implications, to ensure that AI is developed for the benefit of all, and not just the few.

In your opinion, are there any cross-cutting or emerging issues not captured by the listed themes above? If so, please explain.

International collaboration/agreements, which are the only way to stop the 'arms race' (and the ability to use that argument as an excuse to develop and deploy unsafe AI first)

How are the governance gaps and related developments/advances in the thematic areas you selected above affecting your country, region, or sector? Please highlight the most significant challenges.

Governance will only work if all nations agree to slow development

What role can the AI Dialogue play in advancing international cooperation on AI governance?

Global agreement on a way forward. However, giving the extremely limited time window, there needs to be a high sense of urgency and action, rather that a drawn out dialogue.

What are some of the existing initiatives, partnerships, or mechanisms that the AI Dialogue should build upon or connect with, and what added value could the AI Dialogue bring?

Please share examples of policies, practices, platforms, or approaches that promote effective AI governance or offer concrete solutions to addressing its challenges.
