In your opinion, what outcomes would make the first Global Dialogue on AI Governance a success?

An understanding among all parties that a multilateral, binding agreement and international coordination is needed to prevent potentially catastrophic outcomes from powerful AI systems, including a ban on the development of superintelligence until there is demonstrable and verifiable proof that it can be controlled. The survival of the human race is on the line, and the world needs to come together to avoid a dystopian, anti-human future.

From your perspective, which of the following thematic areas identified by the General Assembly Resolution 79/325 for the AI Dialogue reflect your priorities for urgent action and active engagement?

  • Transparency, accountability, and human oversight
  • Safe, secure and trustworthy AI
  • Interoperability of governance approaches
  • Protection and promotion of human rights

Please briefly explain your selection.

There cannot be safe, secure and trustworthy AI or protection and promotion of human rights without transparency, accountability, human oversight and international governance. We are currently in a corporate incentive/arms race dynamic that is allowing for reckless, unregulated development of sophisticated and dangerous models. These four items that I checked MUST happen together or our future is in jeopardy.

How are the governance gaps and related developments/advances in the thematic areas you selected above affecting your country, region, or sector? Please highlight the most significant challenges.

The US is spearheading the sprint toward a superintelligence that no one knows how to control. As a US resident, I feel strongly that my government and the private sector must coordinate on an international level to stop the China/arms race dynamic and come to binding regulation standards, in order to ensure that the benefits of AI are not outweighed by catastrophic outcomes. Right now it's not so much a governance gap as ZERO governance. Let's take cues from the nuclear proliferation treaties and treat this technology with the caution it deserves.

What role can the AI Dialogue play in advancing international cooperation on AI governance?

Bring leaders from international AI companies, scientists, researchers and policy experts from around the world together to begin talking about the verification and oversight framework necessary to create and enforce binding regulations.

What are some of the existing initiatives, partnerships, or mechanisms that the AI Dialogue should build upon or connect with, and what added value could the AI Dialogue bring?

Control AI, Pause AI, AI Futures Project and other international, AI safety-minded organizations that have been focusing heavily on real policy ideas and solutions

How can different stakeholders contribute to the AI Dialogue? Please share recommendations for the format and structure of the AI Dialogue.

Bring in private citizen to express their concerns! 80% of Americans are worried about AI, and 30% are most worried about its capacity for loss of control/superintelligence. Big Tech has the money and the loudest lobbying voice, but regular citizens are concerned and deserve to be heard.

Which voices, communities, or perspectives are currently underrepresented in global discussions on AI governance? How could they be included?

Anyone who does not work in tech and is not an elected official. The general populace is currently serving as a guinea pig for the techno-optimist/transhumanist sci fi dreams of a few very rich men. We deserve a say in where this technology goes and we did not consent to this.

What innovative engagement formats could most effectively foster meaningful and dynamic engagement during the AI Dialogue?

Town Hall style forums with participation/question options

Please share examples of policies, practices, platforms, or approaches that promote effective AI governance or offer concrete solutions to addressing its challenges.

The International Atomic Energy Agency has played a large role in preventing nuclear catastrophe for decades through its 3rd party oversight, verification and alert systems. A similar international body MUST be formed to address and oversee the development of frontier AI models in a coordinated way
