What role can the AI Dialogue play in advancing international cooperation on AI governance?
it enables knowledge sharing and capacity building, particularly for developing countries. Through technical exchanges, training initiatives, and resource mobilization, the Dialogue can support more inclusive participation in AI development and governance.
What are some of the existing initiatives, partnerships, or mechanisms that the AI Dialogue should build upon or connect with, and what added value could the AI Dialogue bring?
Recommendation on the Ethics of AI offers a strong human-rights-based framework with broad international support. The Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence brings together experts and governments to advance responsible AI through practical projects, while the United Nations system through bodies like the ITU and UNDP supports capacity building and global dialogue. In addition, regulatory efforts such as the European Union AI Act are shaping concrete policy approaches that influence global standards.
How can different stakeholders contribute to the AI Dialogue? Please share recommendations for the format and structure of the AI Dialogue.
Governments can provide policy perspectives, share regulatory experiences, and commit to international cooperation. They can help align national AI strategies with global standards and facilitate multi-lateral agreements. Industry and tech developers bring technical expertise and insights into AI capabilities, risks, and deployment challenges. Their participation ensures that governance frameworks are grounded in practical realities.
Which voices, communities, or perspectives are currently underrepresented in global discussions on AI governance? How could they be included?
Indigenous communities and local knowledge systems are rarely consulted, yet AI systems increasingly affect cultural heritage, land management, and local economies. Incorporating their perspectives can prevent harm and promote culturally sensitive applications of AI.
What innovative engagement formats could most effectively foster meaningful and dynamic engagement during the AI Dialogue?
Interactive digital platforms: Online engagement tools, including polls, discussion boards, and real-time collaborative documents, can broaden participation from underrepresented regions, enabling continuous input beyond the physical dialogue.
Please share examples of policies, practices, platforms, or approaches that promote effective AI governance or offer concrete solutions to addressing its challenges.
