In your opinion, what outcomes would make the first Global Dialogue on AI Governance a success?

Being able to regulate AI for the benefit of humanity

From your perspective, which of the following thematic areas identified by the General Assembly Resolution 79/325 for the AI Dialogue reflect your priorities for urgent action and active engagement?

  • Transparency, accountability, and human oversight
  • Open-source software, open data and open AI models
  • Protection and promotion of human rights
  • Safe, secure and trustworthy AI

Please briefly explain your selection.

I selected four options for urgent attention First, AI should be trained to be safe, secure and trustworthy. Second, Using AI should not expose human to rights abuse Third, AI should be governed in a way to promote transparency, accountability, and human oversight. Fourth, AI algorithms, data, software should be open and accessible.

In your opinion, are there any cross-cutting or emerging issues not captured by the listed themes above? If so, please explain.

There has been the use of AI humanoid robot for corporate governance. This area needs special attention.and regulation. Also, there is concern on the use of generative AI to shun out fake data and literature in research. This is worrisome and should be addressed.

How are the governance gaps and related developments/advances in the thematic areas you selected above affecting your country, region, or sector? Please highlight the most significant challenges.

The effect of AI is global, for Africa in particular, AI is being used to perpetrate for false operations in all areas like finance, academia, governance and so on. The trend now is that students believe more in AI-generated answers than their teacher's answers. This is worrisome and there is need to address this trend.

What role can the AI Dialogue play in advancing international cooperation on AI governance?

It will play a major role through harmonization of global rules on AI governance

What are some of the existing initiatives, partnerships, or mechanisms that the AI Dialogue should build upon or connect with, and what added value could the AI Dialogue bring?

For this, initiatives are fragmented and it seems there is no much impact being felt in addressing menace of AI. The great work being done by the World Conference on Research Integrity should be connected to. The AI Dialogue could add value to the efforts of these bodies.

How can different stakeholders contribute to the AI Dialogue? Please share recommendations for the format and structure of the AI Dialogue.

Which voices, communities, or perspectives are currently underrepresented in global discussions on AI governance? How could they be included?

Africa is currently underrepresented in global discussions on AI. Efforts should be made to call for their inputs into the dialogue.

What innovative engagement formats could most effectively foster meaningful and dynamic engagement during the AI Dialogue?
