The general population needs to interact with AI from a safe and secure angle. There is also a need to build capacity in people around AI especially healthcare workers. For purposes of Equity, the Social, economic, ethical, cultural, linguistic and technical implications of AI need to be addressed.

In your opinion, are there any cross-cutting or emerging issues not captured by the listed themes above? If so, please explain.

Yes, use of AI in health needs to come out clearly as an emerging issue.

How are the governance gaps and related developments/advances in the thematic areas you selected above affecting your country, region, or sector? Please highlight the most significant challenges.

Weak health system coordination and inequality- Across Africa, governance gaps between national, regional, and local health authorities are leading to fragmented systems. Data governance and digital health challenges- while digital health innovations are expanding, weak governance frameworks around data protection and infrastructure are hindering their impact.

What role can the AI Dialogue play in advancing international cooperation on AI governance?

The AI Dialogue can serve as a neutral platform where all voices from across all continents, including Africa, are considered and utilized in making global decisions.

What are some of the existing initiatives, partnerships, or mechanisms that the AI Dialogue should build upon or connect with, and what added value could the AI Dialogue bring?

Build on the existing continental frameworks as they reflect the actual context of that particular region.

How can different stakeholders contribute to the AI Dialogue? Please share recommendations for the format and structure of the AI Dialogue.

There should be more visibility about this process, across the socials, for instance, to create awareness of the ongoing process. This will create more engagement from a wider pool of stakeholders beyond governments.

Which voices, communities, or perspectives are currently underrepresented in global discussions on AI governance? How could they be included?

Ensure representation is not symbolic but tied to real influence on outcomes

What innovative engagement formats could most effectively foster meaningful and dynamic engagement during the AI Dialogue?

Storytelling and case-study sessions highlighting African innovations and lived experiences.

Please share examples of policies, practices, platforms, or approaches that promote effective AI governance or offer concrete solutions to addressing its challenges.
