Humans need to feel they can trust AI and that's through agency. That's the most important thing. AI standards are disparate globally and are hard to operate in different regions. AI capacity building is crucial because this is how you implement it.
In your opinion, are there any cross-cutting or emerging issues not captured by the listed themes above? If so, please explain.
AI sovereignty, defining the AI stack, defining AI assurance stack.
How are the governance gaps and related developments/advances in the thematic areas you selected above affecting your country, region, or sector? Please highlight the most significant challenges.
There is no national AI law in the US and cohesive plan to implement it. There are disparate plans in different US departments. Permitting for energy, infrastructure and manufacturing needs to be streamlined to build out capacity. There are no processes and procedures for implementing AI in high risk settings.
What role can the AI Dialogue play in advancing international cooperation on AI governance?
AI Dialogue can help come up with agreed norms, standards, definitions and priorities for AI.
What are some of the existing initiatives, partnerships, or mechanisms that the AI Dialogue should build upon or connect with, and what added value could the AI Dialogue bring?
Build on the NIST Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Framework, OECD requirements, and ISO standards. These would add value by streamlining AI governance implementation.
How can different stakeholders contribute to the AI Dialogue? Please share recommendations for the format and structure of the AI Dialogue.
