Re skilling and up skilling is becoming a serious issue with job displacement already happening because of AI and automation integration, AI needs to be inclusive, no AI divide needs to happen hence the social, economic, ethical, cultural, linguistic and technical implications of AI. Governance needs to be standardized. At least at to some extent. Then we can go into each countries' specificities.

Start the conversation on basic income support as a possibility for the future. Rising AI and automation adoption will lead to this.

As a country, Mauritius cannot enforce AI Governance as the country is mostly an AI consumer - by that i mean heavily dependent on what the Big tech are providing in terms of AI services and solutions. Locally developed solutions can be managed differently. So even with the best regulation and governance structure. The enforcement part becomes a serious issue. Now what is the use of having amazing laws if you can't enforce it? Developing and SIDS needs that support.

Become the bridge between big tech, global AI superpowers and small developing countries.

UNESCO's AI efforts from readiness to guidelines - UN works, OECD- it all looks very fragmented. We need to convene the world around a single table and put forward a global agenda

First regulators, Legal people, data protection departments, agencies- Then get the builders, the big tech, the start up ecosystems, the tool creators - set up specific workshops to discuss impact of AI, evolution of AI, governance structure to be enforced before deployment, and after deployment. This is how to create a serious governance living framework. When its co created.

SIDS, users of big tech platforms in different countries where they have no representations. Get them altogether on a platform for a single common voice, they are all sharing the same problems. Simple example: Deepfake issues- Using AI to post them on social media platforms- the issue is not the AI tool or the person, it is to do with the platform who has millions of users allowing people to see them. They need to work hand in hand towards solving this issue.

1. Have AI Ethics boards across all companies, governments to discuss impact of deployment of AI based solutions 2. Use blockchain, smart contracts to enforce AI Policies. 3. Responsible AI by design needs to be vetted by third party (Governments, or independent organisations) within companies building AI tools for mass usage.
