A global platform for cooperation to guide the further development and use of advanced AI towards a human-centric tool that benefits all humans, and provides a living library of who is doing what in this field to stimulate cooperation, increase impact and avoid duplication.

GeSI, the Global Enabling Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) is an International non-for- profit industry association headquartered in Brussels. GeSI represents over 55 multinational ICT companies, with a combined market value of more than USD 5 trillion, and a network of over 100 partner organizations including UN bodies, and universities, GESI DEFIA is a thought-and-do leader to forward needed and achievable changes in the field of education and life-long learning, as well as being an effective catalyst for transformative action in response to technological opportunities and the changing demands for skills, attitudes, knowledge and shared values systems.

GeSI's mission is to harness digital innovation to deliver positive societal impact while advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). GESI has several publications and programme aiming at assisting ICT companies to positively contribute to the achievements of the SDGs.

Speed up the development and application of guardrails, rules and standards and provide a global platform to ensure that further developments and use of AI benefit the whole of humanity.

Please see attached the first GESI DEFIA statement, calling amongst others for AGI to be treated as a global public good. "For Governments and International Organizations: • Treat AGI as a Global Public Good within the United Nations framework. • Take concrete action including in the fields of national and regional regulation, compute and cloud governance, procurement, liability, and independent evaluation. • Ensure AI is developed and used for the benefit of humanity within well-defined, human-centric boundaries. • Prioritize cybersecurity and safety by developing robust standards and guardrails to protect humans and the social fabric upon which they rely.

AI can help review and distill communalities between different stakeholders initiatives addressing the ethical development and use of advanced AI. The dialogue should use AI extensively to better understand concerns, integrate actions, and derive a global consensus.

Most people and most countries grossly underestimate the impact advanced AI can have on their personal lifes, work and wellbeing. The panel should do all in its power to stress the urgency of global action to ensure AI serve the whole of humanity within hunam centric boundaries. One perspective that does not get enough attention is: what do we do as a global community when it goes wrong? When (a) superintelligence(s) is developed that harm(s) humanity.

Through the use of AI, social media, and other digital tools, the engagement should be continuous, not just a one off event. Developing a new form and process to negotiate international cooperation and standards setting using the available and emerging digital tools is a major challenges for the AI dialogue.
